A fine 1925 Imperial terrestrial Globe by Columbus of Germany

$710.00
A classic imperialistic piece, the map identifies colonies of European Empires throughout the world. It does so by outlining each colony with the same color the Colonist is shown. For example, France is shown in purple as is its colony French West Africa. Italian Somaliland is shown in the same gold as Italy. Effects of the treaty of Versailles are documented as the Austro Hungarian Empire has fallen and given way to the birth of new nations, such as Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia and more. What was once the great Prussian Empire has now lost domain, as part of it belongs now to a new country called Poland. The short lived independence of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania between the two World Wars is documented. The mysterious Constantinople can be found on this exceptionally detailed legend. No doubt, this sophisticated sphere is a gentleman’s piece with its elegant ebonized base and understated Art Deco details. A fine piece of history, demonstrating superb globe making skills at its best. The well maintained artifact has a diameter of about 10 inches and total height of 17 inches. $710 — Item #: 11COLIMPER25 - SOLD
