Spaced-aged Money bank, dated February 20th 1962

Spaced-aged Money bank, dated February 20th 1962

$175.00
“Commemorating Lt. Col. John H. Glenn, JR. triumphant triple orbit of the Earth” is embossed on the ring surrounding the moon. After the USSR had beaten the US in the Space race by sending the first Astronaut into Space on April 21st 1961, the triple orbit of Glenn was much celebrated as retaliation. Souvenirs and propaganda pieces on both sides of the “Iron Curtain” produced many items and have become highly collectable in the recent years! No wonder as these are truly space-aged and atomic pieces of art! This moon globe bank with rocket is made of metal and chrome and offers a unique catapult mechanism to load and shoot your penny into the bank. It is great working condition; we tested it quite a few times! Unfortunately, we do not have the key to the bank, so there’s a rebate in form of pennies inside the moon globe for the future owner of this cool novelty! No matter if you collect Space program related merchandise, money banks or globe novelties….this a great decorative piece! A great gift for somebody who has everything…. Total height is 11 inches with a width of 4 inches. $175 (coins in the moon bank are incl.) — Item : av102 - SOLD
