This nostalgic globe with retro coloring and illustration will revive childhood memories. Post WW2 Reploge ventured out into the children’s market by producing a few unique globes, such as the one offered in this auction as well as a Surprise Globe that would flip open and the Quiz Globe and the Airways Globe, both actually a game. With these unique and colorful pieces Replogle attempted to expand the company into the Toy market, dominated by J.Chein and Ohio Art. Replogle pulled out within a few years as the market was too competitive. It is difficult to locate a model as this one, as they had to endure (and survive!) child’s play…… Here’s a great opportunity to obtain a globe you may have discovered the world with as a child …re-discover it with your kids! The 10inch Globe itself is made of cardboard, mounted into a metal half meridian. The legend includes motifs of very “retro” looking planes and ships. Political borders are shown in a simplified matter. The base is made of metal and has an internal shelf to contain an atlas or book and is finished in a dark navy. Total height is 15inches. Some wear in form of scuff marks, wrinkles and soiling. Details are crisp and vivid in color. Base has minor scratchmarks.
