Fab original 1969 Space Age Tin Toy Moon Globe

Fab original 1969 Space Age Tin Toy Moon Globe

$199.00
The lithographed map identifies all Ranger and Surveyor Probe landings. Interestingly, it fails to note any USSR Probe landing sites. 5 possible Apollo Landing sites are displayed. No doubt this fantastic toy was produced at the height of the Space Race era!. To follow the progress of the Apollo team a Lunar Globe Log book was included with the purchase of the globe. In addition to basic Lunar and the Space Race it provided the newest moon photographs from Orbitor 3 and 5, showing the moon surface including the Kepler and Flamsteed Crater, and possible landing sites for the Apollo program. J.Chein, who manufactured this model, was mostly known for their variety of tin toys. Since the beginning of the company in the late 1900s, an assortment of Globes, in many variants and styles, has been part of their production. As any toy manufacture, J. Chein “cashed in” during the space age era by producing Lunar Globes and other Space Memorabilia. The orb is made of hollow spun tin with a lithographed map. It sits in a very mod white plastic cradle styled base. Diameter of the orb is about 9 inches with a total height (including base) of 12 inches. This is a complete set including the original box and the previously mentioned Log book. The moon is nearly perfect condition; colors are brilliant, details crisp. No corrosion, one scuff mark and apparently has been hit by am asteroid (see photo) on the dark side. A great Space Race Relic for any Space age fan! $199 — Item : 312JCHEINLUNAR - SOLD
