Airline Themed Tin Toy Globe Bank

$89.00
The airline logos are the real story with this globe bank! The lithographed base identifies huge names like Pan Am, TWA, United, Continental, Delta, KLM, Air France and more obscure ones like Trans-Texas Airways. The map shows the world at the beginning of the end of colonial rule in Africa. The map and airline logos help date the bank to 1959-60. The Ohio Art Co., who manufactured this model, was mostly known for their variety of tin toys. Since the beginning of the company in 1908, an assortment of tin globes, in many variants and styles, has been part of their production. Like any toy manufacture, Ohio Art made a wide range of transportation - aviation - space exploration globes in the 1960's and 1970's. The orb is made of hollow spun tin with a lithographed map. It sits on a white base covered in vintage airline logos. Diameter of the orb is about 6 inches with a total height (including base) of 9 inches. The globe is in very good condition with just a few minor dings and scuffs; colors are brilliant, details crisp. The plug at the bottom is present and in good shape. A great globe bank for any aviation buff! Well packed, this artifact will ship domestic for $11.00, international shipping is $24.00. $89 - Item 1017OHIOAIR59
