Vintage Japanese Globe Pencil Sharpener; Circa 1930

Vintage Japanese Globe Pencil Sharpener; Circa 1930

$65.00
These small globe pencil sharpeners are so detailed for their size! In addition to the great graphics and overall aesthetics, they are the perfect size to the fill the gaps between your larger globes! This is a slightly more elaborate pencil sharpener than most from the time period as it featured a compass set into the north pole. The compass is no longer working but the look is still on point! The age of the globe is a little hard to pinpoint but the presence of Persia does mean that it was made no later than 1935. Few other useful clues are present in the map. The orb is made of hollow spun tin with a lithographed map. It sits atop a red metal base that houses the pencil sharpener. Diameter of the orb is about 1.75 inches with a total height (including base) of  about 2.25 inches. The globe is in good condition with no spots of surface rust. There does appear to be a varnish that was put over the paint that has darkened over time but the map is still very legible. Well packed, this artifact will ship domestic for $9.00, international shipping is $24.00. $65 - Item 0418JAPCOMPASSPENSHP
