An impressive & massive 1949 Library Globe
$595.00
This dominant piece is a statement in any setting, especially an office or library. The massive yet refined mounting with walnut carved lion paws adds masculinity and regal attributes. The perfectly aged patina offers a map with warm tones of red, golden yellows and orange lands, contrasting a aged green ocean. A fine Gentleman's Globe indeed!
Offering a warm and intimidate ambiance when illuminated, this sophisticated object is a fine heirloom for generations to come.
The map offers interesting political details, featuring Tibet as an independent nation.
From 1911-1951, Tibet functioned as an independent nation, conducting all governmental functions without interference from China or any other country. Nevertheless, its international status was ambivalent since China continued to claim Tibet as part of its state and the relevant Western countries like Britain and the United States refused to recognize Tibetan independence.
Therefore it was quite rare for Globe Manufacture to display Tibet as an independent country on their maps.
At a diameter of 16 inches and total height of 25 inches this globe is quite impressive and very heavy. Well maintained with minor scuffing to the base and minimal wear to the map, this is a historical heirloom for generations to come.
