$150.00
A true blast from the past! Re-discover the world of your childhood with your Grandchildren with this fab little time capsule! Bold Colors, retro design brings back the fifties not just in political display but also style!
In the 1950’s Reploge ventured out into producing a few unique tin globes, including this one as well as a Magnetic Air Race Globe Game and the Quiz Globe Game.
With these unique and colorful models the manufacture attempted to compete with well-established Children’s Tin Globe makers as J.Chein and Ohio Art. However, Replogle found the market too competitive and discontinued producing tin globes by the late 1950s.
Difficult to obtain in good condition (one must remember they are children's toy globes), this model is in surprising excellent condition. No rust or dents, no discoloration, minor scuffing to the base. The orb itself is made of hollow tin covered with a colorful litho map. The sphere is mounted into a half meridian and attached to a base made of tin and finished in a bold tomato red. Diameter of the globe is 8 inches with a total height of about 11 inches.
Politically it is an early Cold War piece, showing a newly created Israel (1948) but un-divided Korea (1953).
Petite in size, bold in statement, a perfect conversation starter for your shelf or on your desk!
