An elegant 1930 Desk Globe
Sophisticated elegance is the best way to describe this superb find. A product of the depression era (1930), the globe offers a history lesson and style at the same time.
It is the cradle stand which transforms this scientific instrument into a piece of art. Elegantly baluster turned wooden legs celebrate superb wood working skills of the past. A beautiful bronze full meridian adds substance.
The political borders hint a dawn to a new era, the calm before the storm of WW2. The very short lived Central Australia is documented (1926-31). Age appropriate imperfections are barely notable. The patina has aged slightly un-even and minor wear is visible to the base, it is in need of varnish.
The simplified map is rich in color and crisp in details. Diameter of the orb is 6 inches and a total width (including horizon ring) of 9 inches. This master piece stands 8 inches tall.
This artifact offers the perfect desk top size, allowing traveling the world of History and Geography with your fingertips.
