12” Peerless by Weber Costello
With Black Oceans and Airplane Base c1946
A fine example of quite possibly
the most popular vintage globe produced in the 20th century.
With clean Deco/Retro lines and sleek airplane base, this
globe has sustained high demand among collectors and interior
designers. The chrome finish combined with the black oceans
and vivid colored lands provides a dramatic display in any
setting. A classic Weber Costello and a staple of any globe
collection.
The orb is made of pasteboard,
offering black oceans instead of the more common blue/green.
Half meridian and airplane base are made of metal with a
chrome finish. Total height approx 16", 12" diameter
Well preserved condition. The colors
are exceptionally vivid. Equator tape complete. Chrome base
in mint condition. Light rubbing to orb.
The age of the globe has been identified
by the political borders displayed: Israel has not yet replaced
Palestine (1948), Korea not yet shown to be divided (1953).
