“Commemorating Lt. Col. John H. Glenn, JR. triumphant triple orbit of the Earth” is embossed on the ring surrounding the moon. After the USSR had beaten the US in the Space race by sending the first Astronaut into Space on April 21st 1961, the triple orbit of Glenn was much celebrated as retaliation.
