Raeth’s Swedish Jordglobe
c1932
We are pleased to offer this fine
Trade and Traffic Globe (Handels & Samfaerdsglob) produced
for the Swedish market by Paul Raeth of Leipzig, Germany.
With its clean lines and brass mounting, this model is also
a fine representation of the German Bauhaus Style. Note the
functional compass integrated in the foot of the blond solid
fruitwood mounting!
12 individual paper gores and two
polar calottes over a pasteboard sphere. Orb mounted in stamped
and incremented brass half meridian atop a Bauhaus style fruit
wood base. Original functional compass mounted flush onto
the foot of the base. Tastefully selected colors for land
masses contrast beautifully with the brass meridian and fruitwood
base. Approx 22.5" tall and 13" diameter.
The globe is in Near Fine condition
as seen in the photos. The globe retains it's original glossy
finish, colors are crisp and details vivid. Light scratches
and nicks to base.
The age of the globe has been identified
by the political borders displayed:Italien Somaliland and
Ethiopien have not merged. Macndschukuo is named. Persia has
not been renamed Iran. Germany has yet to annex Austria. Burma
not yet independent. Arabia has yet to gain independence.
