This petite Geographia terrestrial
globe shows the refined English globe making skills at its
best! Well preserved bright colors are defining towns, cities,
coast lines, rivers, major railways and so much more. No doubt,
a gentleman’s piece with its elegant baluster turned
wood base and metal (un-engraved) half meridian. Politically
also very interesting as it displays Central Australia, a
state of which existed for only a few years!
12 dull coated paper gores over
pasteboard sphere secured in metal half meridian atop a turned
mahogany base. Approx 10" Tall, 6" Diameter.
The globe is in expected condition
for its age, as there is soiling and age toning throughout.
The base is in good condition with some oxidation to the meridian
and minor wear to the finish of the wood base.
The age of the globe has been identified
by the political borders displayed: Persia, Central Australia,
Constantinople, Manchuria, Arabia, Russia.
