An exquisite 1940 Cram’s illuminated
Glass Globe with unusual mounting.
Another fine testament to the courage
of Cram’s, exploring different design and color options
for terrestrial globes!
This model has a beautiful, warm glow when illuminated as
the oceans are in a golden yellow rather than the common blue/green.
Note the unique mounting, consisting of a metal half meridian
and wooden base. Both are finished in an antique white lacquer
and provide an Arts & Craft feel to the mounting. Very
unique indeed!
Politically the globe demonstrates the dawn of WW2, as Germany
is shown to have advanced its territory, Austria and part
of Czechoslovakia are shown to be occupied. The rarely seen
Italian East Africa is visible as well.
The globe itself is in very good
condition. The map is fully intact and has still its beautiful
golden color. The mounting shows a little age as some of the
lacquer has chipped. The cord is original and looks as it
has barely survived WW2. Some people prefer the original cord,
however, we will gladly replace the cord if requested and
at no additional charge.
