A rare terrestrial Globe with silver
oceans and simplified deco mounting
Cram’s dared to produce these
unusual terrestrial globes, though for only a short period
of about 10 years. It proved difficult to manufacture these
unique spheres because of the color. Being more sensitive
to daily handling than the average globe, not many of these
superb pieces are to be found, especially in a fine condition
as the model we are offering.
The globe itself is made of fiber
board with a hollow orb; the simplified mounting is made of
metal, finished in a dark bronze with silver deco detail.
The legend identifies railways and ocean currents in addition
to short wave radio stations highlighted in red. Approx 13"
Tall, 10.5" Diameter.
In overall very good condition with
some minor rubbing and scuffing. Some expected discoloration
to the silver oceans, typical for this model for reason explained
above. Colors are vivid, details crisp. The base is also in
very good condition, no cracks or rust, minor chipping to
the finish.
The age of the globe has been identified
by the political borders displayed: Europe is shown in its
borders prior to WWII. Austria has not yet been annexed by
Germany (1938).Persia has changed to Iran and is shown in
both names (1935). Italian East Africa is visible (1936-41).
