WWI - WWII Globes

This was the beginning of the end of most Empires. Once ruled by an Elite few now facing the revolution of the common man. Emperors, who had divided the World among themselves, now had no new land to conquer. Instead, the only way to expand one’s territory was through the horror and brutality of war.

Politically one of the most active eras, as at no other time terrestrial globes capture the birth and death of so many empires and nations.

This is also the era of technical advancement, as the first electrical illuminated globes appear. New materials, such as aluminum and bakelite are being introduced. This and new print technologies provide the opportunity to produce globes more economically, for every household and school. From kitsch to true pieces of art, the diversity of globes of this era is immense.
